What is Curodont?
Curodont is a revolutionary new dental solution designed to treat early-stage cavities by repairing and rebuilding enamel at the first signs of breakdown. Curodont is a non-invasive10-minute chairside treatment that uses a patented peptide technology that works at a microscopic level through the process of “Guided Enamel Regeneration.” This stimulates natural enamel repair, helping prevent cavity progression and reduces the need for shots, drills and fillings.
How Does Curodont Work for Early Stage Cavities?
Curodont uses a unique peptide, Curolox, which binds to weakened areas of enamel and promotes the formation of new mineral layers. This natural process helps halt early cavities and regenerate enamel, creating a stronger, healthier tooth structure.
Targeted Regeneration - Curolox peptide forms a matrix for new enamel growth in areas affected by decay.
Pain-Free Application - The treatment is quick and simple and does not require any anesthesia or drilling.
Prevent Further Decay - By reinforcing weak enamel, Curodont helps prevent cavities from worsening.
Benefits of Curodont for Early Cavity Treatment
Non-Invasive and Comfortable - Curodont avoids drilling and injections, making it ideal for patients with dental anxiety or tooth sensitivity.
Natural Regeneration - Curodont promotes true enamel regeneration, offering a more sustainable non-invasive solution than traditional fillings.
Preventative Care - Curodont strengthens enamel in the early stages of demineralization and helps reduce the risk of advanced decay, contributing to long-term dental health.
Who Can Benefit from Curodont treatment?
Curodont is most effective for individuals with early-stage cavities or demineralization. Ideal candidates include:
Patients With Early Decay - Curodont halts early decay between teeth before it advances further, regenerates enamel.
Patients with White Spot Lesions - Often caused by soft enamel, dietary acids, poor oral hygiene, or from metal brackets during orthodontic treatment.
Young Patients - Particularly beneficial for children or teenagers with developing teeth that are prone to cavities.
The Curodont Treatment Process
Examination with a Dental Professional - Your ORA dentist will take x-rays and use advanced diagnostic technology to examine your teeth and identify early-stage cavities.
Confirmation with Artificial Intelligence - At ORA we utilize Pearl AI an advanced diagnostic artificial intelligence software that helps identify early stage enamel cavities between teeth.
Application of Curodont Repair Solution - The bioactive Curodont solution is applied with a soft sponge to tooth areas showing decay, allowing it to penetrate and initiate natural enamel regeneration.
Post-Treatment Follow-Up - Patients often see significant improvements in enamel integrity and appearance, in only a few weeks. At your 6 month follow-up dental exam and cleaning we will confirm enamel regeneration.
Frequently Asked Questions

Curodont is a low-viscosity liquid material that carries the globally patented ‘Monomer-Peptide 104‘ technology in the highest concentration. This peptide promotes deposition of hydroxyapatite (the main tooth-building mineral) within carious lesions and stops the progression of incipient decay.
-
Curodont employs the clinically proven and award-winning ‘Monomer-Peptide 104‘ technology to bring about guided enamel regeneration within early, non-cavitated enamel lesions. When applied, this technology penetrates until the very depth of the carious lesion. Once inside and triggered by the acidic environment of carious lesions, the intelligent peptide monomers assemble to form a matrix, which resembles the natural enamel matrix. This matrix then attracts calcium and phosphate ions from the saliva and promotes the formation and deposition of new hydroxyapatite crystals, essentially reversing the mineral loss seen as a result of caries.
-
Guided Enamel Regeneration (GER) is essentially a tissue regeneration treatment concept wherein tooth enamel is rebuilt after being lost to caries and wear, without the need to drill the tooth.
-
Curodont is indicated for early, active, non-cavitated carious lesions. On smooth tooth surfaces these lesions appear as white spots with a rough, but intact surface. For carious lesion between the contacts of teeth x-rays are crucial to the diagnosis of early lesions. Advanced diagnostic technology such artificial intelligence diagnostics (Pearl AI) and fiber-optic transillumination (CariVu) can also be used to achieve a more accurate diagnosis.
-
Caries is a slowly progressing dental disease. In its advanced stages, when it has progressed to the middle or inner thirds of dentin, the carious lesions may get cavitated. Once a cavity develops, the only resort is to restore with an artificial plastic material. Drilling and filling of carious lesions is the beginning of life long maintenance that can become quite costly. Therefore, intervening when the carious lesion is still in its incipient stages avoids or delays the need for restorations and elongates the life of a tooth. Curodont helps regenerate the ‘lost’ enamel and gives teeth a fresh start.
-
No. Dental insurance companies are currently not covering the treatment as it is a new dental procedure as of 2024. However, there is a specific insurance code for Curodont “D2991: application of hydroxyapatite regeneration medicament, per tooth.” Though not currently covered we will still submit the treatment to insurance companies in order to secure coverage in the future as a new standard of care.
-
At ORA the Curodont Repair treatment fee is $95 per tooth. Nationally the cost varies from $100 to $150 per tooth.
-
Curodont treatment is quick and comfortable. At ORA we can treat up to 6 teeth in only 10 minute, and recommend treatment immediately at after your hygiene cleaning when all plaque has been removed.
-
Curodont works on active, early, non-cavitated carious lesions. Cavitated lesions, which represent an advanced stage of the carious process, must be treated with fillings that require drilling of the tooth. Detection of caries in their incipient stages is essential to avoid the need to drill the tooth and to provide a simple, pain-free, and anxiety-free solution to patients with Curodont .
-
Curodont can be used only for treatment of early, non-cavitated carious lesions on enamel tooth surfaces. lf the carious lesion is in the form of a “microcavity” Curodont may be used to stop the progression of the lesion, but ‘filling’ of the microcavity should not be expected. Further, if cavitatation is present, which means a hole has developed in the tooth due to the decay, traditional filling with anesthetic and drilling will be required.
-
For each lesion, only one application of Curodont is sufficient to bring about reminerlisation over a course of 4-6 months, provided the patient maintains good oral hygiene in this period. The remineralization may continue to increase thereafter.
-
Although one application of Curodont per lesion promotes remineralization, it can nevertheless be re-applied 3-6 months after the first application, if the dental professional finds the carious lesion to still be active.
-
Yes. Curodont can be used in conjunction with other remineralizing agents, such as fluoride varnish, to optimize enamel regeneration and mineralization. Additional treatments should be carried out only after an interval of at least 5 minutes after the application of Curodont and not before.
-
Natural enamel formation in primary and permanent teeth requires a few months to a few years, respectively. As Curodont Repair employs the X+GER technology, which mimics Nature to regenerate enamel, it requires at least 4-6 months to demonstrate discernible remineralization.
-
No. Studies have shown that Curodont not only promotes enamel regeneration but also inhibits further demineralization of the enamel. Therefore, the regenerative effect of Curodont on enamel is not limited in time, it does not wear off. However, good oral hygiene and daily flossing is essential to prevent future enamel decay.
-
Good oral hygiene maintenance is necessary for the success of any Curodont . This includes brushing with fluoridated toothpastes a minimum of twice a day, interdental flossing must be performed after meals to ensure the cleanliness of the area, and fluoride based rinses. If a patient prefers a fluoride alternative then hydroxyapatite based oral hygiene products are an alternative.
-
The white spots treated with Curodont may fade to a significant extent but may not completely disappear, due to slightly different optical properties of enamel strengthened with Curodont compared to natural enamel
